Notre Dame tries to secure its future by joining forces with the ACC and Orange Bowl

Of course this was before the advent of the BCS and the SEC's rise to power again. Back then the Irish were a good draw but today a third place SEC team is a better draw than an Irish team with a good record and here is why.

The combined record of all of the coaches since Lou was the head coach is 107 wins and 78 loses. The combined coaches have won seven more games but have lost almost triple the amount of games as Lou did.

Please read this Notre Dame Athletic Director and heed my advice, this article is addressing another dumb idea that your school has had. Notre Dame is trying to save it's football future by making a deal with the Orange Bowl and the ACC to save it's football independence without joining a conference. 

It is time Irish to man up and join a conference. No one wants to give you an opportunity to get in the big dance anymore because your school doesn't play enough teams that have significance in the sport and when your team does play a good team many times you guys lose and plain stink in the process. 

Get in a conference give your young men something to play for, a conference ring. Stop living in your past. The football world is passing you by. Give recruits a reason to come to South Bend. What would you do if NBC ever says goodbye?

With no guarantee Notre Dame will receive the priority treatment it enjoyed under the current BCS system, the university is in talks with the ACC to preserve a prominent bowl relationship.


Multiple reports have surfaced that the Fighting Irish are in talks with the ACC about a possible tie-in with the Orange Bowl, giving Notre Dame a platform somewhat similar to the one it currently enjoys. Under the current BCS system, which expires after the 2013 season, Notre Dame was guaranteed a BCS bowl game if it finished in the top eight in the BCS standings.


And while that guarantee will be gone with the transition to a four-team playoff, the Chicago Tribune is reporting Notre Dame is trying to keep its name in the game by striking an Orange Bowl tie-in agreement that's similar to the same agreement the SEC and Big 12 enjoy with the newly created Champions Bowl, and the Pac-12 and Big Ten enjoy with the Rose Bowl.


The ACC restructured its contract with the Orange Bowl last week for the conference to continue sending its champion to the bowl game until 2026. That applies accept when the Orange Bowl is picked as one of the semifinal sites in the playoff; or the ACC champion qualifies for the playoff at a different site. If that's the case - the very rare case - the Orange Bowl will take the conference's runner-up.


"Since the development of the new plan for postseason football, the ACC and Notre Dame have had discussions relating to the Orange Bowl," Notre Dame senior associate athletic director John Heisler said. "While presidents have been consulted, the discussions have been between ACC conference staff and Jack

As an independent program in football, Notre Dame could be shut out of the current playoff picture with more weight being given to teams in conferences and to winning those conferences. This has led to speculation that Notre Dame, which participates in the Big East in Olympic sports, would need to join a conference for the sake of preserving its football reputation.


The school has consistently been linked to the Big Ten for geographical reasons and there have been rumors of Texas courting Swarbrick to the Big 12. There have even been talks about Notre Dame joining the ACC. Even if a move to a conference isn't made, a partnership with the ACC would help Notre Dame remain a major player in the playoff scenario.


As noted by Brian Hamilton of The Chicago Tribune, the idea of affiliating with the Orange Bowl seems to run counter to Swarbrick's previous endorsement of the new bowl system. In late June, the Notre Dame athletic director said he liked the flexibility afforded by the new system with no tie-ins.


"That's a great opportunity for me to get to them," Swarbrick said on June 27. "No one has locked them up to the exclusion of anybody else being in them and then because all that activity happens at that level. I think there's going to be more flexibility among the next tier of bowls."


As things stood then, the Fighting Irish with their large traveling presence and national following could bowl shop for the best offer. Now it appears that Notre Dame, with no conference affiliation, is scrambling for a best-case scenario.

Rulings Have Consequences Too

Recently Supreme Court Judge John Roberts made a remarkable comment on the court's decision to up hold Obama Care. Chief Justice John Roberts said “It is not our job to protect the people from the consequences of their political choices." That's true, however it is your job to interpret the law correctly. Is Obama Care a mandate or a tax or is it more like a Peanut Butter Cup, both? 
Maybe it is a peanut butter mandate wrapped in a chocolate tax. First the question should have been asked by the Supreme Court on how the current administration planned on defending Obama Care. First is was a mandate then it was a tax. Were they going to defend it as a mandate (peanut butter) or a tax (chocolate). Not one judge should have voted until that was settled first. I don't believe anyone even thought this thing out until the Court's decision was made.

I think judge Roberts got confused at were he was and what he was supposed to be doing. Maybe he had watched too many episodes of Catdog. Let's help him out shall we? I will show you what Obama Care really is.

Let's take the two words and come up with the real meaning here. Mandate and tax. Since the government can't mandate us to buy a product except Social Security (a retirement plan and a tax) and Medicare ( A health care plan and a tax) through payroll (mandated) deductions then let's cut that word in half and use the first part "man" in our new word. We will eliminate the word date since 50% of us don't like the other 50%, it wouldn't be a good date it would end before desert. Now let's combine the last word tax to man to form the new meaning of Obama Care. The new word is Man-tax. Simple and to the point. Now the President can have his cake and eat it too something Marie Antoinette couldn't do because she didn't have the head to eat with after the French Revolution.

Thanks again Supreme Court for taking more of our personal property away. Now don't try and tell me that money isn't personal property because it is. Nothing is more personal to people than their money.

Oh by the way Judge Roberts bad legislation and bad judicial decisions have consequences too, they are called revolutions.

Obama administration repeats same jobs line—for the 30th month

When the Bureau of Labor Statistics announced the nation's latest national employment figures Friday, the Obama administration stressed that people should not "read too much" into the data. (When should we then? Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.)

"I see you are looking at the jobs report again."

Mitt Romney's campaign pounced, and flagged the fact that the White House has repeated that same line nearly every month since November 2009.

Boring! I think the President should be more creative at delivering the jobs report. How about someone in the White House Staff create a cold to hot gauge? The gauge could work this way when jobs are in decline the gauge would read cold.

Here is the way it would read. Sorry Americans the jobs report for May is cold with more people filing for unemployment than those that found a job. A warm up is expected some time in July.

Now when things are going great and the economy is growing and people are finding work the White House could then put up the hot word.

That's right America the job market is hot,hot, hot! The only way you should be unemployed is if you want to stay home and watch Jerry Springer.

Now doesn't that seem a little more exciting and engaging. It would be like a weather forecast for the jobs market.  I have one final comment for the President and his ultra smart staff. I would probably refrain from stating that you should not read to much into a single month of the jobs report because it may not be that important to you but it sure the heck is to someone without a job.

Bin Laden here. I am feeling sad because another warrior is leaving the field of battle.  LaDainian Tomlinson has retired. Sorry for the lateness of this article but I have been busy lately in the Indian Ocean.

James Brown once said that "Money won't change you, but time will take you out." The Godfather of Soul could have been talking about all running backs when he unleashed that outstanding bit of philosophy, and one of the all-time greats is about to call it a career.

It was announced on Sunday morning that LaDainian Tomlinson, the league's fifth all-time leading rusher (that is like being on the FBI's top five for me, he ran and I ran, we have something in common), will retire after 11 seasons. Tomlinson, who played for the New York Jets over the last two seasons, will sign a contract with the Chargers in order to retire with his original team. Tomlinson will speak about his retirement at a Monday news conference.




"There have been very few players in the NFL who have meant as much to their team as LT (That is what they say about me and Al- Qaida. See my chart below if you do not believe me.) did during his career here," said Chargers head coach Norv Turner. "In particular, his MVP season in 2006. It would be hard to find a back who's led the league in rushing and caught over 100 balls in separate seasons. It speaks volumes to his abilities and what he was capable of doing."

Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis, who has terrorized more than his share of running backs over the last 16 years, held Tomlinson above the fray, and recently gave him a rare level of respect when asked. (Who is this Ray Lewis? I like him)
"LT changed the way the running back is looked at," Lewis told the Chargers' official site. "You think about him being a complete three-down back and using that as a receiver as well. You hadn't seen that many backs have that type of versatility. He was one of those backs that you had to get in position on all downs on the ball. I think that's the way he really changed the game."

Tomlinson was selected fifth overall in the 2001 NFL draft, and his impact was immediate. In his rookie campaign, he gained 1,236 yards on 339 carries, and scored 10 touchdowns. From 2002 through 2007, he averaged 1,569 yards and 17.5 touchdowns on 338 carries per season -- one of the greatest stretches of continued productivity the NFL will ever see.

And that's just on the ground -- Tomlinson was also one of the NFL's all-time great receiving backs. In 2003, he became the second back to catch 100 or more passes with 100 on the nose (fullback Larry Centers of the Arizona Cardinals caught 101 in 1995), and his career totals of 624 receptions for 4,772 yards and 17 touchdowns would be a pretty good career for any pure wideout. As much as Walter Payton or Marshall Faulk or anyone else you'd care to mention in NFL annals, Tomlinson was the very definition of the complete back -- the jack-of-all-trades who mastered every aspect of his game.

Sadly, though, Tomlinson couldn't avoid the two great equalizers among all elite backs -- workload and time. Just three years after his 2006 MVP season, in which he set an NFL record with 28 rushing touchdowns, Tomlinson was missing games and watching his rushing totals decline severely -- from 1,815 yards in 2006, to 1,474 in 2007, to 1,110 in 2008, to 730 in his last Chargers season of 2009. He had a nice bump in his first season with the New York Jets after signing as a free agent in 2010, but that 914-yard year was just a flashback to a better time. Last season, Tomlinson gained just 280 yards on 75 carries, and it certainly looked as if the end was near.

Tomlinson confirmed this to SI.com's Jim Trotter in May, telling Trotter that he was "95 percent retired" and that it would take the perfect combination of team and role to reverse that process. The next NFL process for Tomlinson? Waiting five years for his eligibility into the Hall of Fame. With 13,684 rushing yards and 145 touchdowns -- good for fifth and third on the all-time lists, respectively -- anything but a first-ballot shoo-in in 2017 would be an insult.

For these feats I salute you LaDainian Tomlinson warrior to warrior.

Obamacare Decision Proves Elections Matter

My first reaction to the Obamacare decision was: Well, it was a great country ...

U.S. First lady Michelle Obama told those gathered at the annual conference of the African Methodist Episcopal church in Nashville, Tenn., on Thursday that what Christians do in the quieter moments of their lives is more important than just showing up for Sunday services once a week.

"Our faith journey isn't just about showing up on Sunday for a good sermon and good music and a good meal," the first lady said to some 10,000 people. "It's about what we do Monday through Saturday as well, especially in those quiet moments, when the spotlight is not on us, and we're making those daily choices about how to live our lives."

"We see that in the life of Jesus Christ. Jesus didn't limit his ministry to the four walls of the church," she said. "He was out there fighting injustice and speaking truth to power every single day. He was out there spreading a message of grace and redemption to the least, the last, and the lost. And our charge is to find Him everywhere, every day by how we live our lives." (Mrs. Obama, Jesus never imposed His will on anyone. Your husband has imposed his will and beliefs on many Americans that did not want Obamacare or his other failed policies. In one city that Jesus went to minister in they told Him that he was not welcome so He left. Obama you should do the same thing with your policies and then maybe your wife can compare you to Jesus. I perfer to compare you to Stalin, Marx, and Lenin your true heroes.)

Mrs. Obama's comments may have something to do with the fact that the first family does not attend church on a regular basis. In author Ed Klein's new book, The Amateur, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, whose church the Obama's attended when they lived in Chicago, said the first family did not seem interested in attending church on a regular basis.

"These are not church people," Wright said of Barack and Michelle Obama. "As far as Michelle was concerned, that she was not brought up in the church, and as far as the couple themselves, the church is not very important to them." (That is apparent because if they were church people they would love their neighbors and not force their own personal beliefs on them. Also President Obama said America was no longer a christian nation. Why would Obama make a claim like that, is it because he doesn't want it to be so?)

In her address to the AME Church's 49th General Conference, the first lady turned her focus toward several civil rights icons including Frederick Douglass, Rosa Parks, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and others, including some former AME church members who championed civil rights over the past 150 years.

"I know that I am here today because of those heroes," she said. "My husband is in the White House today because of them. (Your husband is in the White House because America was desperate and now thanks to him and many others like him, America is more desperate and poorer for the experiment. This is what happens when the inexperienced take a leadership position. A man of theories does not a leader make) Because of those heroes, today my daughters and all our children and grandchildren can grow up dreaming of being doctors and lawyers, CEOs and senators, and yes, maybe even the president of the United States of America."

"So yes, we moved forward and we won those battles, and we made progress that our parents and grandparents could never have imagined," said Obama. "But today, while there are no more 'whites only' signs keeping us out, no one barring our children from the schoolhouse door, we know our journey is far from finished."

And in an election year that most political analyst believe will most likely hinge on a handful of key swing states, the first lady wasted no time in motivating those listening to encourage everyone they know to participate and vote in November.

"But let's be very clear, while we're tuning out and staying home on Election Day, other folks are tuning in. Other folks are taking politics very seriously. And they're engaged on every level. They're raising money. They're making their voices heard".

"What does that mean? That means being informed. It means following the news, and learning about who is representing us (The majority sure wasn't represented by Obamacare), and how our governments work (Our government works at lighting speed to take away your rights and personal property as to make us all equal, dependant on the state. Look at how this legislature was rushed through congress before many of the people even read it). It means showing up to vote – and not just every four years, but every year in every election.

Here is an example of the fools that are running this country. Click it and hear her profound wisdom from her own mouth. Don't be afraid of the truth, embrace it. I hope we all remember this come November.

"Apple anyone?"

"So I want you to talk to your friends and your family, your neighbors," she said. "Talk to them. Talk to folks in the beauty salons, the barbershops, the parking lot at church. Tell them what's happening on the city council and out in Washington. Let them know. Find that nephew who has never voted – get him registered." Later that day, the first lady left Nashville for Memphis, where she attended a fundraiser Thursday evening before returning to Washington, D.C.

If we continue to allow politicians to take us down the path of socialism, yes! Take a look at Greece.

The Athens Chamber of Commerce's study reveals that 68,000 Greek businesses closed over the past 17 months and it expects a further 36,000 to close in the next 12 months. It foresees the economy will shrink a further 7.8 per cent this year – worse than the 6 to 6.5 per cent decline forecast by most economists.

How could this happen? Greece turned from its roots of democracy and adpoted socialism that's how. And now the Supreme Court has helped us down the same path. Out of the Greece and into the fire.
