Bill Maher finds six black men to deem Matt Drudge racist [VIDEO]

On his weekly show on Friday night, HBO host Bill Maher suggested that the content that appears on the Drudge Report obviously demonstrates “racism in America.”

In objecting to accusations of racism against Gwyneth Paltrow for a a June 1 tweet with the heading “Ni**as in paris for real,” Maher directed his audience to Matt Drudge as a foil for, in his mind, actual racism. (Hey Maher, did you ever read that word on the Drudge Report)

Maher’s evidence of Drudge’s alleged racism came in the form of six images of black men, which appeared on the webmaster’s website, the Drudge Report, during the month of April.

“The problem with racism is Matt Drudge,” Maher said. “I pick from Matt Drudge’s website — just this, over a month we monitored this. (See what I said about him and his staff) Just show some of the pictures that were on — there, Mike Tyson looking like he’s going to eat your head. (So if you show a picture of an angry black man then that makes you racist. I guess Danny Glover in the Lethal weapon movies is racist then because he even shoots a white guy with a nail gun) Oh yes, Louis Farrakhan — because he’s so relevant now. (If he continues to preach hate and division he is relevant) Oh, and Marion Barry, he’s in the news also. (Marion is in the news because of his stupid statement about Asians) Oh yes, Rev. Wright, because he matters to your life so much. (Another preacher of hate) This is who appears on the Drudge Report. Oh yes, and there’s Al Sharpton telling Eric Holder what he should do, and Michael Jordan angry, because that’s how we all remember him. This is racism in America.” (I bet the people that marched in the south in the fifties and sixties wish that's all they had to go through having their pictures displayed on the Internet with a few captions added. If this really is racism then I am a Scottish bagpiper)

While Maher mocked the images, he neglected to provide context for the stories Drudge attached to the pictures — nor did Maher explain why he went all the way back to the month of April for his examples.

Additionally, the HBO host overplayed the images’ prominence, as shown from research based on the Drudge Report Archives:

• The Mike Tyson image accompanied an April 12 story in which the former boxer expressed disgust at the fact that George Zimmerman, the Florida man charged in the murder of Trayvon Martin, had not yet been shot.
• The Louis Farrakhan picture was attached to an April 17 story in which the black nationalist heaped praise on conservative commentator Pat Buchanan — calling him a “great Republican.”
•  On April 5, a picture of Marion Barry was featured atop a story of the D.C. Council member and former D.C. mayor expressing anger at the District’s Asian-American community for opening businesses in the city, instead of African Americans. “We got to do something about these Asians coming in and opening up businesses and dirty shops,” Barry said. “They ought to go. I’m going to say that right now. But we need African-American businesspeople to be able to take their places, too.”
•  The picture of MSNBC host Al Sharpton and Attorney General Eric Holder appeared on April 11, with a story about Holder praising the left-wing activist for his efforts — protesting and rallying — on behalf of slain Florida teen Trayvon Martin.
•  Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s picture was featured with an April 10 story about the president’s former pastor claiming that “white supremacy” is driving “world policy” and that Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas worships “some other god.
• April 27’s Michael Jordan picture appeared with a story about how the Charlotte Bobcats’ basketball team owner presided over the “NBA’s worst team ever.”

I wonder if it is getting too hot in the kitchen for Maher. This is a great way to get America to look the other way after he made a mess by having their eyes focused on someone else like Drudge.

Is there anything else stupid that you would like to say Bill? Please do, but man up and accept the consequences.

These actions point out that Maher is either an evil genius or a mad scientist that understands and manipulates human emotions for his benefit either way I bet they end up helping ratings for his show on HBO (Hell's Box Office). It really is too close to call.

I went to see the Avengers when it came out. I thought it was great and I recommend it to people who like action movies. The way that the Hulk said his lines was quite Shakespearean.

Now I am kinda of weird in some ways. You guys already know that. Example: Most Americans hate TV commercials but I like them better than I like most TV shows. I pay attention to them and learn from them. I try to examine them and see the creative side of the people who make them and then I ask myself, "Self what would you have done differently." Some times self says nothing and from a Freudian stand point I guess that is okay because if self starts talking back then you are not far from being Gollum. Right precious. Right!

Some times ideas come for a blog or a comedy skit or a parody of a hit song and then I run like Forest Gump with them. I can't explain it, won't try to explain it, and you won't make me explain it either, so there.

Well this happened at the Avengers movie.

Everyone knows that previews to up coming attractions are played in hopes that our interests in the next movie might be heightened. May I remind you I like to watch commercials, I also read things that other people don't pay attention to like the small print on movie posters, cereal boxes, and stop signs. No there is no small print on stop signs, well none that I have found. 

Well the first preview came out and the rating announcement stated that the preview was for approved audiences.

I thought about that message for a while and I had some questions for the rating people. This is the part where bears and unicorns are dancing under rainbow colored clouds. How does the MPAA know that I am approved? Why did they approve me? How come it took so long to approve me? Do I get anything for being approved?  And now that I am approved by the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) will I get parent approval?

Once I accepted the fact that I was approved and honored to be approved I set out to find that message and share it with you, but alas I could not find the image, however I did find two other images that got me thinking. Look below.

Okay in this message it states that the following preview has been approved for all audiences, but is it really? You got some splaining to do Lucy.

Would you let your family see a movie with the characteristics that are displayed in the warning label? What audiences are they talking about, the Manson family? I wish I could make the message for rating a movie like that one. I would say something like this movie has some really bad stuff in it, stuff your mother won't approve of or  your grandma wouldn't be caught dead watching this one.

Here is another good one Bobby.  Look at what it says. This preview is for appropriate audiences. What is an appropriate audience? Do they have previews for inappropriate audiences? How will the movie house know if you are appropriate or not? Will they need a note from your boss, or teacher, or your pastor?

If I had to write the note it would go like this: Please allow Ted Baxter to go into this movie he behaves in such an appropriate manner at all times. Maybe they should have this rating system for entering nightclubs. I am sorry Mr. Sheen but you have been behaving in an inappropriate manner and are not allowed in the nightclub because it is for appropriate people only. Sorry Charlie!

Who knew it could be so confusing to go to the movies. Maybe I should stop reading the small print, eat some pop corn, drink my soda (if that is still legal, Bloomberg are you listening) and just enjoy the movie, huh?

U.S. debt load falling at fastest pace since 1950s

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — Everyone knows America has too much debt. What they don’t know is that things are getting better, not worse.

Little by little, our economy is reducing its debt burden, slowly repairing the damage caused by 10, 20 or 30 years of excess. (Imagine if those years where cupcakes and the debt was your thighs)

If you want to know why economic growth has been so tepid, here’s your answer. Four years after the storm hit, the economy is still deleveraging. And it’s very hard for any economy to grow when everyone is focused on increasing their savings. (Plus many Americans are home watching talk shows instead of working because of the lack of jobs)

Total domestic — public and private — debt as a share of the economy has declined for 12 quarters in a row after surging over the previous decade. (Kudos to the average Joe) The rapid rise in federal debt over the past four years has distracted us from the big picture. (And why shouldn't it) The level of public debt is indeed worrisome, but it’s not as big a worry as the economy’s total level of debt — public and private. (Neither was the iceberg to the Titanic)

Although we have a whole cottage industry devoted to warning us about the dangers of too much public debt, we don’t have any comparable Cassandras telling us about the dangers of too much private debt. (Here is an opportunity for my readers ) Yet the history of the past 30 years (or 300) clearly shows that too much debt, of whatever variety, can pose a systemic risk to the national and global economies. (Our government doesn't quite get that yet)

As much as we hear politicians, pundits, tea-party patriots and the Congressional Budget Office obsessing about government debt, it was excessive private debt — not public debt — that caused the 2008 financial meltdown. (Now is the time to finish off the U.S. with public debt, right Mr. President?) And it was private debt — some of it since transferred to the public — that lies behind the current European debt crisis. (Greece is unique in having a public sector that ran up spending while its private sector is rather conservative.)

As the political rhetoric about the federal deficit has heated up, we’ve lost sight of the progress that’s been made in bringing total debt back under control. The U.S. is actually doing much better than you’d think if you just listened to the conventional fears about how we’re rushing headlong into a debt Armageddon. (Yes take your mind off of the country's debt and think about kittens. Kittens are nice, kittens are cute, kittens are fun)

In fact, since the recession ended in June 2009, total U.S. debt has risen at the slowest pace since they began keeping records in the early 1950s. While Washington has taken on a lot of debt since then, the private sector has paid off, written off or dumped on the government almost as much. (Way to go you bill payers!)

As a share of the economy, debt has plunged as a consequence of rapid deleveraging by families, banks, nonfinancial businesses, and state and local governments. The ratio of total debt to gross domestic product has fallen from 3.73 times GDP to 3.36 times. (Good job Americans!)

In the 11 quarters since the recession officially ended, total domestic debt has risen by just $702 billion, or 1.4%. By contrast, in the 11 quarters before the recession began, in those bubble years of 2005, 2006 and 2007, total debt increased by $10.7 trillion, or 28%.

And it wasn’t just the U.S., other advanced economies were adding on to their debt loads as well, with most of the debt taken out by the private sector.

Debt was growing at an unsustainable pace, but it was fueling the U.S. and global economies.
Economists who have studied the impact of indebtedness have found that low levels of debt are essential to growth, but that high levels of total outstanding debt can hurt an economy. (Oh government, are you listening?)  Beyond a tipping point, adding on more debt will reduce growth over the long run, even if it inflates a bubble in the short run. (Ah, wisdom at last)

“At low levels, debt is good. It is a source of economic growth and stability,” concluded Stephen Cecchetti, M.S. Mohanty and Fabrizio Zampolli, economists for the Bank of International Settlements, in a paper presented at the Federal Reserve’s Jackson Hole conference last August. ( I don't know, can we trust this guy? Stephen does work for the Bank of International Settlements, could this be like a virus selling a cure for the cold?) “Beyond a certain point, debt becomes dangerous and excessive,” and can lead to increased volatility, financial fragility and slower growth. It can even bring down the real economy with it, as we have seen. Read the BIS paper, “The Real Effects of Debt.”

Cecchetti and his co-authors found that growth can be impaired once nonfinancial corporate debt hits about 90% of GDP, or when household debts hit 85% of GDP, or when public debts hit about 85%.
In the U.S., household debt has now fallen to 84% of GDP from a peak of 98%. Nonfinancial corporate debt has fallen to 77% from a peak of 83%. Financial sector debt has plunged from 123% of GDP to 89%. Public debt has risen to 89% from 56%. (Makes sense and sense makes dollars. Oh leave me alone I am having pun with it)

The deleveraging process in the private sector still has a ways to run, not based on some economists’ rule of thumb, but based on what real people are actually doing. Banks and households are still slashing their debt, while nonfinancial companies are beginning to borrow again, but only a little, according to the latest data from the Federal Reserve’s flow of funds report. Take a look at the flow of funds.
According to a study by McKinsey published earlier this year, U.S. households may have two more years of deleveraging left before their debts are sustainable again.
If McKinsey is right, the U.S. economy may have to endure a couple more years of slow growth.
